Introduction
Say what you can't elsewhere. Maskr is the anonymous social platform built on Nostr.
What is Maskr?
Maskr is a social media platform that runs on the Nostr protocol — a decentralised, censorship-resistant network. Unlike traditional social media, Maskr requires no phone number, no real name, and no algorithm designed to keep you angry and scrolling. Think of it as your alter ego's social media: a space where you can speak freely, explore ideas, and connect with others without compromising who you are offline.
Your keys, your identity
Why Maskr?
- Anonymous by default — no PII required to sign up or post
- Censorship-resistant — your content is broadcast to multiple independent relays; no single party can silence you
- Bitcoin-native — Lightning zaps let you tip creators directly, no middlemen (coming soon)
- No data harvesting — we don't sell your data or build advertising profiles
- Open source — inspect, fork, and contribute on GitHub
Core Features
- Posts & Feed — short-form notes, images, GIFs, reactions
- Articles — long-form content published directly to the Nostr network
- Encrypted Messaging — end-to-end encrypted DMs and World Chat
- Communities — topic-based groups for focused discussions

How it works
Nostr is a simple, open protocol built around a client–relay model. When you post on Maskr, your content is cryptographically signed with your private key and broadcast to a set of relays — servers that store and forward events. Anyone running a Nostr client can read your posts from any relay that holds them; no single server owns your data.
Maskr supports three ways to authenticate:
- NIP-07 browser extension (e.g. Alby, nos2x) — your private key stays in the extension; Maskr never sees it
- Passkeys — biometric sign-in that derives your Nostr keys from a device-bound passkey
- OAuth — sign in with an existing account; a Nostr key pair is generated and managed for you
