Articles
Articles let you publish long-form content directly on Nostr — think blog posts, essays, or detailed threads — without a character limit and without a centralised platform that can delete your work.
How articles differ from posts
- Length — no hard character limit; write as much as you need.
- Editable — articles are published as Nostr Kind 30023 replaceable events. You can update an article after publishing and relays will serve the latest version while preserving the original identifier.
- Separate discovery — articles surface in the dedicated Articles tab rather than the main post feed, making them easier to find for readers specifically looking for long-form content.
- Rich formatting — the article editor supports Markdown, so you can use headings, bold, italics, code blocks, and lists.
Writing an article
Navigate to Articles > Create from the sidebar or top navigation. The editor provides:
- A title field (required).
- An optional summary that appears in previews and discovery feeds.
- A cover image URL field.
- A full Markdown body editor with live preview.
When you publish, the article is broadcast as a signed Kind 30023 event to your relays. The d tag acts as the unique identifier; publishing a new version with the same d tag replaces the previous one.
Discovery and engagement
Published articles appear in the Articles tab visible to your followers and anyone browsing that section. Each article displays:
- Engagement stats: like count, reply count, and repost count.
- Zap counter — the total amount of sats tipped to the article via Lightning (coming soon). See Zaps & Lightning for details.
Because articles are standard Nostr events, they are also readable in any other Nostr client that supports Kind 30023 — your content is not locked to Maskr.
